Sometimes life deals us a hand we didn't see coming. Sometimes it's a winning hand, but most of the time it's something fraught with challenges we wished we didn't have, and frequently ones we didn't have just before the hand was dealt. Such is the turn of events for Sandra Bullock, who just won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in The Blind Side.
If you're anything like me then you're a sports fan, a golfer, and a golf fan. I can play golf as easily as I can watch it on TV, but so far this year I have found myself less interested in the televised events.
Heading in to Sunday night's awards ceremony, there was plenty of talk surround a couple of films and a handful of performances. Headlining all the Oscar buzz was the chit-chat surrounding the Best Picture category, where Avatar and The Hurt Locker were hotly contested among the press and fans alike. I saw eight of the ten Best Picture nominees at least once, and a couple of them twice or more. I truly enjoyed Precious and A Serious Man, but knew that neither would take home the statue. I was personally pleased to see The Hurt Locker win the Best Picture Oscar.
