In April 2020, the United States’ unemployment rate rose to a historic peak: 14.7 percent. At the time, 23.1 million Americans were unemployed. Amid all of the uncertainty, were there any professions that maintained stability better than the others?
The team at USDIRECT Business wanted to find out. Using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, we gathered a list of professions and found the jobs with the lowest unemployment rates. Our completed rankings reveal the 10 most secure professions in America.
Come fire and brimstone, anarchy and calamity, or a series of natural or manmade disasters, these 10 professions might have the best chance at weathering the storm.
To determine the most secure professions in the United States, the team at USDIRECT Business first gathered data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Next, we looked at the percentage increase or decrease in unemployment rate for every profession category from March 2020 to March 2021.
A profession was ranked highly on our list if its unemployment rate decreased from 2020 into 2021, or if the unemployment rate increased only slightly. From there, we determined the top 10 most secure professions in the United States.
